Amulet

A Magically charged object worn, carried or placed to guard against negativity, negative energies or negative thoughts.

Angel Reading

A Psychic Reading using Angel Cards. Each Angel card signifies a specific Angel with words of their wisdom to provide guidance and answers. An Angel Reading usually requires a Reader to use the Angel cards in a spread in a similar way to Tarot cards.

Angels

Angels are believed to be heavenly messengers or guides.

Animism

Animism is the belief that that all living things and natural objects such as animals, plants and rocks contain a spiritual essence.

Ankh

An Egyptian hieroglyphic in the shape of a looped cross that is indicates the symbol meaning life.

Aquarian Age

Aquarian Age, commonly referred to as the Age of Aquarius is the astrological era lasting 2,150 years. Some astrologers believe we are currently in the Aquarian Age whereas others maintain it is yet to come. It is believed that the Age of Aquarius will allow total enlightenment as belief systems will blend harmoniously into one.

Aquarius

The sun sign Aquarius is one of the 12 signs of the Zodiac. It is known as the Water Carrier. Those born between January 21 - February 19 come under the sign of Aquarius.

Arcana

Arcana means ‘secret’ as is known in the Tarot deck. The Major Arcana and Minor Arcana are the two halves of the Tarot deck.

Aries

The sun sign Aries is one of the 12 signs of the Zodiac. It is known as the Ram. Those born between March 21 - April 20 come under the sign of Aries.

Astral Plane

The non physical, spiritual plane.

Athame

An Athame is a double-bladed ritual knife used by Witches and Spell Casters to direct personal power during Magic Rituals and Spell Casting.

Aura

The normally invisible energy field surrounding the human body, animals, plants and rocks.

Aura Reading

The art of seeing an aura and identifying its colours, density and blemishes to reveal information about the health, emotional state and spiritual development of a subject.

Automatic Writing

Automatic Writing is the gift of writing without will, knowledge or control. Psychics gifted with Automatic Writing skills use this technique to pass on spiritual messages and guidance to clients.

Balancing

Balancing is the skill Psychics and healers adopt to realign any imbalance of the Chakras. Spiritual, emotional, mental or physical imbalance can produce illness. There are several different methods of balancing including Reiki healing.

Bibliomancy

Bibliomancy describes the method of foretelling events by interpreting the text of a page in a book when it falls open randomly after a question. Normally a religious book such as the Bible is used.

A Birth Chart or Natal Chart is used by astrologers to identify the position of the celestial bodies during the exact time of birth. From this information detailed explanations of character, personality traits and likely outcomes can be determined.

Book of Shadows

A Book of Shadows abbreviated to BOS is also known as a Grimoire and is a Witches hand written collection of Spells and rituals. A Book of Shadows can also contain correspondences or lists of ingredients used in Spell work.

Cancer

The sun sign Cancer is the 4th sign of the 12 signs of the Zodiac. It is known as the Crab. Those born between June 20 - July 20 come under the sign of Cancer.

Candle Magic

Candle Magic uses different coloured candles to represent different energies and different desired outcomes in Spell work. It is a simple form of Magic.

Capricorn

The sun sign Capricorn is the 10th sign of the 12 signs of the Zodiac. It is known as the Goat. Those born between December 20 - January 20 come under the sign of Capricorn.

Cardinal Signs

The four Cardinal Signs in astrology are Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn. Each of the Cardinal signs are said to possess leadership skills with outgoing and dynamic personalities.

Celtic Cross

The Celtic Cross is perhaps the most well known and used spread or layout used in Tarot Readings. The Celtic Cross uses nine cards, along with a single card known as the significator which represents the querent asking a question of the Tarot Reader.

Chakra

There are the seven major energy centres found in the human body and are known as chakras. Each chakra is associated with a different colour - the root chakra is positioned at the base of the spine and is related to the colour red. The sacral chakra found below the naval button is related to the colour orange. The solar plexus chakra is positioned between the heart and naval and is associated with the colour yellow. The heart chakra is associated with the colour green and the throat chakra relates to the colour blue. The third eye chakra is found in the centre of the forehead is associated with the colour indigo and the crown chakra at the top of the head relates to the colour violet.

Channelling

Channelling is the process of receiving messages and communicating from Spirit energy. Channelling is conducted by Psychics, clairvoyants and mediums to pass on messages to living loved ones.

Charging

Charging allows healers, Psychics, Witches and Spell Casters to place energy into an item or person.

Charms

Charms also known as Amulets or Talismans are items that have been charged with positive energy and are worn, carried or placed to guard against negativity, negative energies or negative thoughts.

Chirognomy

Chirognomy is a specialism of Palmistry in which the hand shape, size, colour, texture and finger length are studied and interpreted.

Chiromancy

Chiromancy is the study of the lines on the palms of the hands and is more commonly known as Palm Reading or Palmistry.

Chromotherapy

Chromotherapy is a healing technique using lights of different colours. It is sometimes referred to as Colour Therapy and is used by Healers to balance the energies improving mind, body and soul.

Clairaudience

Clairaudience describes the Psychic ability of hearing sounds that are not normally audible.

Clairsentience

Clairsentience describes the Psychic ability of feeling, sensing or perceiving Psychic energy from others.

Clairvoyance

Clairvoyance describes the Psychic ability of seeing energy vibrations, auras and other objects and beings from the Spirit world. Clairvoyants use this skill to tap into the energy of normally unseen entities.

Clairvoyant

Clairvoyant is the name given to a psychic practitioner who utilises their skills of clairvoyance,

Cleansing

Cleansing is the act of ridding negative energies from oneself, others or objects. Many Psychics, Witches and Spell Casters cleanse themselves, their ingredients, their tools and their divination aids such as Tarot cards before they begin to work.

Cosmic Ordering

Cosmic Ordering is the process of placing an order with the Universe for the things you want in life.

Court Cards

Court Cards are the face cards in the Tarot deck. Normally they consist of a King, Queen, Knight and Page for each of the four suits. In Tarot Readings the court cards are given extra emphasis and meaning.

Coven

A Coven is the name given to a group of Witches who amongst other things meet to celebrate, perform rituals and cast Spells and practice witchcraft.

Crystals

Crystals such as amethyst, rose quartz, moonstone and tigers eye are used by Psychics, Healers and Witches for their unique and positive natural energies.

Crystal Ball

A Crystal Ball is used by Clairvoyants and Psychics and is the most recognisable divination tool.

Crystal Gazing

Crystal Gazing known as Scrying is the act of using a crystal ball as a divination tool.

Déjà vu

Déjà vu is the feeling or sense that a person gets that a new events have been previously experienced.

Divination

Divination is the art of revealing the unknown by means other than the five senses. Sometimes referred to as fortune telling, divination uses methods and tools such as Crystal Balls, Tarot cards, Runes, I Ching, etc.

Divining Rod

A Divining rod is a long narrow stick or metal rod used for divination purposes. The Divining rod pulls independently to provide answers.

Dowsing

Dowsing is divining future events using a dowsing pendulum or divining rod.

Dream Analysis

Dream Analysis is the study of interpreting dreams and providing meaning and sense.

Dream Journal

A Dream Journal records the recollections of dreams. Using a Dream Journal can help to clarify recurrent dreams and raises awareness of dreaming so that interpretations can occur.

Elements

The Elements of Earth, Air, Water and Fire are focused upon by Psychic, Tarot readers and Witches.

Empath

An Empath has the skill to sense or feel the emotions and sensations of others.

Empathy

Empathy is the ability to sense and understand the experience or emotions of others including animals.

Elementals

Elementals are spirits associated with the four elements. Elemental spirits possess supernatural powers and are usually invisible to most people. They live among plants, trees, rivers, mountains etc.

Evocation

Evocation is the process of calling up spirits and/or other non-physical entities.

Extrasensory Perception (ESP)

A Familiar is an animal who has a psychic bond with a Witch.

Fixed Signs

The four Fixed Signs in astrology are Taurus, Aquarius, Leo and Scorpio. Each of the Fixed signs are said to possess strength, power and a strong will to achieve.

Fortune Teller

A Fortune Teller is the common label given to Psychics, Clairvoyants and Tarot Readers who divine the future.

The Ancient Greek Goddess Gaia was the first deity, from whom all others sprang. She is often referred to as mother earth.

Gemini

The sun sign Gemini is the third of the 12 signs of the Zodiac. It is known as the Twins. Those born between May 21 - June 21 come under the sign of Gemini.

Ghosts

Ghosts are said to be spirits who have not yet left the earth plane.

Glossolalia

Glossolalia is better known as speaking in tongues. Some Healers and Psychics are believed to have this skill.

Hermetic Principles

There are seven Hermetic Principles on which the philosophy of Hermeticism is based. These seven Hermetic Principles are Mentalism, Correspondence, Vibration, Polarity, Rhythm, Cause and Effect and Gender.

Horoscope

Horoscope is the word to describe an astrological forecast of a person's future.

Inner Eye

The Inner Eye is more commonly known as the Third Eye is an esoteric concept that refers to an invisible eye which provides perception beyond the normal. Psychics develop their Inner Eye so that they are able to ‘see’ the future.

Intuition

Intuition is “knowing” without conscious or rational reasoning. It draws on knowledge gained from past experience that has been stored in the subconscious mind.

Invocation

Invocation is the act of invoking an appeal to a higher power for assistance. Many Psychics and some witches invoke or call upon spirit or a god or goddess to aid them with their work.

Isis

Isis, the ancient Egyptian goddess holds a special place in the hearts of many Psychics as she is the goddess of magic and divination. In the Goddess Tarot Isis represents the Magician.

Jera Rune

Jera Rune or Jeraz is the J Rune which is used in Rune Readings to represent plenty, harvest and success.

Juno

Roman goddess and queen of the gods. In the Goddess Tarot Juno portrays the Hierophant with the meaning and guidance of doing the right thing in Tarot Readings.

Jupiter

Roman god for whom the planet Jupiter is named. Jupiter rules both the sun signs of Sagittarius and Pisces.

K

Kabbalah

Kabbalah is a form of Jewish mysticism and is translated form the Hebrew to mean “received knowledge”. It is thought its origins are as old as the Torah. The traditional belief is that every accent, letter, word and number in the Torah contains keys to understanding the nature of the human soul and thus the universe itself.

Karma

Karma can be simply explained in the phrase “You reap what you sow”.The belief that all deeds – whether good or bad will be answered for in this lifetime or the next.

Kirlian Photography

Kirlian Photography is a photographic method involving high frequency electric current. Kirlian photographs often show the different colours of the aura, which are not apparent to the naked eye. .

Kundalini

Kundalini is a source of immense energy that is described as being coiled up at the base of the spine. Kundalini, or the “Serpent Power”, is believed to provide energy for Psychic experiences.

Lammas

Lammas occurs on August 1st and is a Pagan and Wiccan Festival.

Layout

A Layout is more commonly referred to as a Spread in Tarot Readings. It is the name given to the pattern of cards laid out by a Tarot Reader. The most famous Tarot Layout is the Celtic Cross.

Leo

The sun sign Leo is the fifth of the 12 signs of the Zodiac. It is known as the Lion. Those born between July 20 – August 20 come under the sign of Leo.

Libra

The sun sign Libra is the seventh of the 12 signs of the Zodiac. It is known as the Scales. Those born between September 20 – October 20 come under the sign of Libra.

Litha

Litha occurs on the Summer Solstice on or around June 21st and is a Pagan and Wiccan Festival.

M

Mabon

Mabon or the Autumn Equinox occurs on or around September 21st and is a Pagan and Wiccan Festival.

Magic

Magic sometimes spelt as Magick describes the combination of will, intent and action to affect change by manipulation of psychic energies. Magic is practised by Witches and practitioners of Witchcraft and is used in their Spell work.

Major Arcana

The Major Arcana in the Tarot consist of twenty two cards that are considered of greater importance and significance in Tarot Readings than the 58 Minor Arcana cards.

Medium

A Medium is a Psychic who has the ability to communicate with spirit. This can include passed loved ones.

Minor Arcana

The Minor Arcana in the Tarot is made up of fifty-six lesser Tarot cards that are divided into four suits of Swords, Pentacles (or Coins), Wands (or Staves or Rods) and Cups. These cards are ordered from Ace up to Ten. The Court Cards of Page, Prince (Knight), Queen and King of each suit make up the remainder of the Minor Arcana. The remaining cards of the 78 card Tarot Deck are collectively known as the Major Arcana.

Mutable Sign

The four Mutable Signs in astrology are Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces. Each of the Mutable signs are said to be adaptable, versatile and fit comfortably into any situation or environment.

Natal Chart

A Natal Chart also known as a Birth Chart is used by astrologers to identify the position of the celestial bodies during the exact time of birth. From this information detailed explanations of character, personality traits and likely outcomes can be determined.

Near Death Experience (NDE)

Near death experience (NDE) is a powerful psychological event that may occur to a person close to death. Many people report experiencing an NDE report seeing a bright light at the end of a tunnel that they feel drawn towards.

Necromancy

Necromancy is a form of divination adopted by Psychic Mediums to contact and communicate with the dead.

New Age

Numerology is a form of divination using numbers. Each number from 1 – 9 and 11, 22 and 33 is given a meaning. The date of someone’s birth can be derived down to a single number and a meaning ascribed to it.

The Occult is the study and science of things esoteric, arcane, mysterious, paranormal, and supernatural.

Oneiromancy

Oneiromancy is a divination technique through dream interpretation.

Out of Body Experience

Out of Body Experience or OBE can best be described as an experience in which people feel as if they are sensing the physical world from a location outside of their physical bodies. This can occur involuntary while sleeping deeply or under the influence of drugs. Some Psychics claim to experience an OBE at will.

Old Religion

The term Old Religion s often referred to by Wiccans when describing the traditional Witchcraft.

Omen

An Omen is an event, perception or sign regarded as a portent of good or evil.

Oracle

Historically an Oracle was a priest or priestess acting as a medium through which advice or prophecy was sought from the gods. Today, the word Oracle can describe a Psychic or Medium who uses channelling techniques to answer questions or give insight into the future.

Ostara or the Spring Equinox occurs on or around March 21st and is a Pagan and Wiccan Festival.

Pagan

A Pagan is someone who holds religious and spiritual beliefs other than those of the main world religions.

Pallomancy

Pallomancy is a divination technique using a pendulum.

Palmistry

Palm Reading or Palmistry is a form of divination in which a Palm Reader conducts a hand analysis looking at the lines and creases on the palm of the hand to examine the past, present and future.

Paranormal

The Paranormal describes phenomena such as clairvoyance that are beyond the scope of normal scientific understanding.

Past Life Regression

Past Life Regression is the process carried out by hypnotists to guide a person into a trance which allows them to recall events from previous lives they have lived in another time and  perhaps another place.

Pendulum

 A Pendulum, usually formed from crystal is used as a divination tool.  The crystal hangs from a chain or string and its natural movement denotes yes or no answers.

Pentacle

The five pointed star known as a Pentacle is the principle symbol used by Witches. It is often seen in Tarot cards as the suit of Pentacles is one of the four suits in the Tarot.

Pentagram

An encircled pentacle becomes a Pentagram. This ancient symbol represents the powerful elements of air, earth, fire, water and Spirit.

Pisces

The sun sign Pisces is the last one of the 12 signs of the Zodiac. It is known as the Fishes. Those born between February 19 - March 20 come under the sign of Pisces.

Precognition

Precognition is the foreknowledge or paranormal prediction of future events.

Prediction

Prediction is the word given to the ability to have foreknowledge of future events and verbalising them in. Psychics make predictions based upon their Psychic Readings.

Prophet

A Prophet is someone who receives information or insight into the future from a divine source.

Psyche

Querant, sometimes spelt as Querent describes someone who is undertaking a Psychic Reading such as a Tarot Reading and is seeking inspiration, guidance or answers.

Qabala is perhaps better known as Kabbalah and is a form Jewish mysticism and metaphysical practices.

Quarter Days

The Quarter Days are the solstices and equinoxes which signal the commencement of the seasons. The Quarter Days are celebrated as Sabbats by Witches, Wiccans and Pagans.

Quarters

The Quarters are the north, east, south, and west parts of a circle caste by Witches, Wiccans and Pagans in Spell Casting and other magical rituals.

Reading

A Reading such as a Tarot Reading or a Rune Reading is carried out by a Psychic to allow information to be given to a Querant who is seeking inspiration, guidance or answers.

Reiki
