Akasha The fifth element, the power of the Universe, also known as Spirit or Ether. It is the energy out of which the Elements are formed.
Altar An Altar is used as the main area for storing any tools a Witch needs during a Magical ritual or Spell casting.
Amulet Also known as Talismans or
Charms. A Magically charged object worn, carried or placed to guard against negativity, negative energies or negative thoughts.
Ankh An Egyptian hieroglyphic in the shape of a looped cross that is widely used as the symbol meaning life.
Arcana Meaning ‘secret’ the Major Arcana and Minor Arcana are the two halves of the Tarot
deck.
Asperger A bundle of herbs used to sprinkle water for purification.
Astral Plane The non physical, spiritual plane.
Astral Projection The practice of separating the consciousness from the physical body and moving it at will.
Athame A double-bladed ritual knife used to direct personal power during Rituals and Spell work.
Aura The energy which surrounds the human body visible to gifted people. Reading an Aura can reveal much about the person's health, emotional state and spiritual development.
Autumn Equinox The Autumn Equinox or Mabon occurs on or around September 21st and is a Wiccan Festival or Sabbat
Beltane Beltane or May Day occurs on May 1st and is a Wiccan Festival or Sabbat
Book of Shadows Known as a BOS or Grimoire, a book of Shadows it is a Witches hand written collection of Spells, Rituals, Herb Lore and Magical ingredients kept in book form and used as a reference.
Candlemas Candlemas or Imbolc occurs on February 2nd and is a Wiccan Festival or Sabbat
Chakras The Chakras
are the seven major energy centres found in the human body.
Charms Also known as Amulets or Talismans are objects that have been Magically charged and are worn, carried or placed to guard against negativity, negative energies or negative thoughts.
Chirognomy Chirognomy is the study of the hand shape, size, colour, texture and finger length and shape and is a branch of Palm Reading.
Chiromancy Chiromancy is the study of the lines on the palms of the hands and is more commonly known as Palm Reading.
Cleansing The act of ridding negative energies from an object eg cleansing Crystals
by using positive psychic energy.
Divination The art of revealing the unknown by means other than the five senses. Sometimes referred to as fortune telling, Divination uses methods and tools such as Crystal Balls, Runes, I Ching, etc.
Dowsing Divining the future using a dowsing pendulum or rod is known as Dowsing
Drawing Down the Moon A ritual used by Witches during the Full Moon to connect with the Goddess and empower themselves.

Familiar An animal who has a psychic bond with a Witch

Litha Litha occurs on the Summer Solstice on or around June 21st and is a Wiccan Festival or Sabbat

Mabon Mabon or the Autumn Equinox occurs on or around September 21st and is a Wiccan Festival or Sabbat
May Day May Day or Beltane occurs on May 1st and is a Wiccan Festival or Sabbat
Ostara Ostara or the Spring Equinox occurs on or around March 21st and is a Wiccan Festival or Sabbat
Pagan A Pagan is someone who adheres to a belief system outside that of established Orthodoxy.
Palmistry Palm Reading or Palmistry
is a form of divination in which a palm reader conducts a hand analysis to examine the past, present and future.
Pendulum A tool for divination which consists of a string attached to a heavy object, such as a crystal. Movement of the pendulum determines the answer.
Pentacle The five pointed star known as a Pentacle is the principle symbol used by witches.
Pentagram An encircled pentacle becomes a Pentagram. This ancient symbol represents the powerful elements of air, earth, fire, water and Spirit. Wearing a Pentagram is very protective and will bring good lucky to the wearer.
Phases of the Moon The stages of the Moon (new, waxing, full and waning) as it travels around the Earth. One complete orbit around the Earth by the moon is known as a lunar cycle and takes around 28 days There are 13 lunar cycles per year.
Runes Runes are made from wood, stone, crystal or bone and used for divination purposes. Runes
have their roots in ancient Norse history and mythology.
Sabbat Sabbats are the eight celebration festivals that mark the Wheel of the Year as it turns through its seasons.
Sacred Space A cleansed and blessed area used for magical purposes including spells and Rituals.
Samhain Samhain or Halloween occurs on October 31st and is a Wiccan Festival or Sabbat
Scrying Scying also known as crystal gazing is the magical process of psychically gazing into an object, usually a crystal ball, scying mirror or scrying dish for the purpose of divination or foretelling the future.
Sigil A magical symbol created for a specific purpose normally made up of an intricate combination of several specific symbols each with a specific meaning or intent.
Solstice An astronomical event marking the longest day (Summer Solstice) occurring on or around 21 June and the longest night (Winter Solstice) occurring on or around 21 December.
Soul Mate A Soul Mate is someone you share a deep affinity with. You are completely compatible with a Soul Mate - sexually, spiritually and emotionally. A Soul Mate is your ideal partner, a twin flame or kindred spirit.

Spell Action taken using a method, ingredients, words and actions to focus and manipulate energy to the fulfilment of a desired aim.

Tarot Deck 78 picture cards that carry symbols and meanings for divination. The Tarot Deck is made up of 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana cars.
Tarot Reading A Tarot Reading is an interpretation of the symbols and pictures of the Tarot Deck to foretell future events.
Visualisation To mentally picture images as if they were real.
Wand Also known as a Staff. A piece of wood or twig used by a Witch to channel and direct energy in Spell casting. The wand is often used for drawing a ritual circle and closing that circle.
Waning Moon The phase of the moon from the Full Moon to New Moon in which the moon appears to decrease.
Waxing Moon The phase of the moon from the New Moon to Full Moon in which the moon appears to grow fuller.
Wheel of the Year One full cycle of the eight seasons marked with the Sabbats that make up a full year.
Wicca A modern pagan religion following ancient traditions of celebrating nature and honouring the Goddess and God.
Widdershins Anti clockwise.
Witch A person who practices Witchcraft.
Witchcraft The practice of the Craft by Witches that includes rituals and Spells
Winter Solstice The Winter Solstice or Yule occurs on or around December 21st and is a Wiccan Festival or Sabbat
Yule Yule occurs on the Winter Solstice on or around December 21st and is a Wiccan Festival or Sabbat
