Beltane

The Sabbat of Beltane May 1 known more commonly as May Day has very ancient roots. Beltane comes from the Celtic word meaning 'fires of Bel' (Bel was a Celtic deity). It is a Sabbat and fire festival celebrating the coming of summer and fertility.

The ancients celebrated May Day as a time of fertility, merriment and love making.

Try to celebrate this time yourself by bring flowers into your home, lighting candles and wearing bright colourful clothing. This will surround you and your home with positive energy and help rid any dark energies that may be causing you bad luck.

This time is very much a time for lovers.

Lovers have traditionally paired off on May 1 May Day and it has become a very popular time for the Pagan ritual of Handfasting. As a fire festival it is seen as a very fertile time too. So Spells for Fertility are also popular around this time.
