March – the Chaste Moon is also known as the Wind Moon in Celtic traditions or Sap or Worm Moon in Thomas's Old Farmer’s Almanac.
The purple Chaste tree or shrub also known as Vitex agnus castus means chaste or pure.
The Spring Equinox Sabbat known to some as Ostara marks the Wheel of the Year at this time.
During this time the lunar phases of the full, waning, new and waxing moon hold particular significance to matters relating to taking up new and exciting adventures. Being bold, brave and decisive and asserting needs, wants and communicating desires and setting goals.
On this the first day of Spring the Spring Equinox is celebrated. It is a time of year to make a commitment or recommitment to your spiritual growth. It is a time to look ahead in hope and joy for what is to come. It is a time of divination, looking into the coming year. It is a time for cleaning and purification.
Plan in advance a simple walk to honour the gifts of nature. Go to a forest, lakeside, the ocean, the mountains or hillside, or a quiet garden or public park. Breathe deeply as you take in all the sights, sounds, smells and feelings of nature as they surround you.
Spring relates to the element of Air with corresponding colours of white, green and yellow. Notice the elements around you – Fire, Earth, Air and Water. Pay attention to the element of Air that surrounds you and how it relates to all your senses. Feel the breeze on your face; hear the rustle of leaves as the wind blows through the trees; smell and taste the freshness of the clean air as you breathe deeply, look skyward to see any clouds floating in the air.
Silently ask the element of Air and Spirit to connect with you and aid you with learning, effective communication, ideas and inspiration and correct decision-making.
At this time be open to any messages that come to you.
Look for gifts of nature connected with springtime and the element of Air - a white or yellow flower, a daisy or buttercup, the sound of birdsong, a feather. Let the joys of nature seep into your soul as you stroll along.
On your return home, place representatives of the element of Air upon your altar. These items can be things you have collected on your walk or beautiful things in the colours white, yellow or green you have already in your possession.
As you look upon your altar take a few moments to remember your senses and the element of Air and know that the positive qualities of the element of Air will remain with you to aid your mind, your ability to learn and your perception and communication skills.
During the Chaste Moon period it is well worth conducting magic that is linked with health, wealth and happiness.
This Spell will help to draw to you Health, Wealth & Happiness
Dried Sage in a flameproof dish
An altar candle
A small container to hold salt
A small dish or bowl to hold water
A piece of paper, a pen & a small envelope
A silver or gold inked pen
1 purple candle
1 green candle
1 yellow candle
You can also add green, yellow and purple crystals such as aventurine, yellow jasper and amethyst and the Tarot card of the Empress, the Wheel of Fortune and the Sun to your Altar.
Begin by writing the words Health, Wealth and Happiness and your name on the piece of paper. Take time over this and think about the words as you write them in your best handwriting. Place a pinch of the Dried Mint and Dried Chamomile into the envelope. Fold the paper in half once and then once again neatly and place in the envelope. (You can write the word Spell on the envelope).
Ignite the dried Sage so it emits smoke.
Light your altar candle.
Concentrate and visualise a sphere of gold light forming around you and expanding outwards in every direction to form your Sacred space
Concentrate on all five elements of Air, Earth, Water, Fire and Spirit and how they are within you, represented on your Altar and in the world around you.
Raising your energy is bringing forth all your energy inside you and preparing to release it at the end of the Spell to go out into the world and create the changes you desire. Imagine the energy in the form of a white light flowing throughout your body forming a ball of light deep in your chest. Tense every muscle in your body until you feel ‘fully charged’. Relax and take a few deep breaths before proceeding
With the flame from the altar candle light each of the three extra candles in turn. Drip from each candle a drop of wax onto the back of the envelope to act as a seal. (Later bury the envelope in the earth.)
Say 3 times aloud:
‘Health, Wealth and Happiness unite
To draw henceforth with energies bright
Bring forward to me
So mote it be’
After your Chaste Moon Spell is complete you will need to release and send out the energy that you raised. This energy is released into the world to create the change you desire. To do this you will need to stand before your altar and imagine the ball of light in your chest once more. Again tense all your muscles and begin to ‘push’ the energy upward.
Then stand comfortably with your feet apart and thrust your arms upwards and outwards to form a star shape with your body. Exhale and imagine sending this energy out into the air. When this is complete, stand with feet together and touch each shoulder with opposite arms to form a cross against your chest.
Relax, take some deep breaths and imagine and visualise the golden sphere around you becoming smaller until it disappears.
Creating positive energy is very important if you are to live an abundant and prosperous life and build up good karma. A great way to do this is by undertaking some charity work.
