September – The Barley Moon
September – the Barley Moon is also known as the Singing Moon in Celtic traditions or Corn Moon in Thomas's Old Farmer’s Almanac.
This time is simply the best time for seeking equality, balance and harmony. This refers to relationships with others, to your health and well being and to all aspects of your personal and professional life.
During the Barley Moon period it is a good idea to conduct Magic for ridding yourself of negative elements and balancing the elements within you. Cast the following Spell on the evening of the waning moon during the Barley phase and be open to banishing negativity and achieving balance and harmony!
This Banishing Spell is cast for banishing and ridding negative entities such as bad habits or negative emotions. This Banishing Spell should be cast on the Waning Moon phase.
Barley Moon Magic
Prepare your tools & ingredients on your Altar on the Barley Moon
- A mixture of dried Sage,dried Lavender, dried Thyme, dried Rosemary and dried Bay Laurel in a flameproof dish
- An altar candle
- A small container to hold salt
- A small dish or bowl to hold water
- A tall white candle in holder
- Juniper oil
- Lavender oil
You can also add clear quartz crystals and the Tarot card of the Fool and the World to your Altar.
Before you commence Barley Moon Spell Casting
Blend two drops each of the Juniper oil and Lavender oil with a small amount of carrier oil.
Ignite the dried herbs in the flameproof dish so they emit smoke.
Light your altar candle
Anoint your tall white candle with the blended oil by carefully and purposefully rubbing the oil all over the candle
Create your Sacred Space and Circle
Concentrate and visualise a sphere of gold light forming around you and expanding outwards in every direction to form your Sacred space
Call Upon the Elements
Concentrate on all five elements of Air, Earth, Water, Fire and Spirit and how they are within you, represented on your Altar and in the world around you.
Raise Energy
Raising your energy is bringing forth all your energy inside you and preparing to release it at the end of the Spell to go out into the world and create the changes you desire. Imagine the energy in the form of a white light flowing throughout your body forming a ball of light deep in your chest. Tense every muscle in your body until you feel ‘fully charged’. Relax and take a few deep breaths before proceeding
Raise Your Barley Moon Spell
Silently communicate all your problems that you experience in all aspects of your life, any addictions or bad habits, your relationships with family and friends, your finances, your health, your love life, your career, or the way you spend your time. Concentrate briefly on all the negatives you currently have in your life. When you can think of nothing else, light your tall anointed white candle and say 3 times aloud:
‘I charge thee now with magical light
By the Waning Moon of the night
take all negativity from me
So mote it be’
Release Energy
After your Spell is complete you will need to release and send out the energy that you raised. This energy is released into the world to create the change you desire. To do this you will need to stand before your altar and imagine the ball of light in your chest once more. Again tense all your muscles and begin to ‘push’ the energy upward.
Then stand comfortably with your feet apart and thrust your arms upwards and outwards to form a star shape with your body. Exhale and imagine sending this energy out into the air. When this is complete, stand with feet together and touch each shoulder with opposite arms to form a cross against your chest.
Ground Yourself
Relax, take some deep breaths and imagine and visualise the golden sphere around you becoming smaller until it disappears.
Autumn Equinox September
The Autumn Equinox occurs on September 21st, 22nd or 23rd.
On
this day the Autumn Equinox Sabbat is celebrated and is a time for
thanksgiving, meditation, and introspection. This is a time of balance,
when day and night are equal once again. The powers of light and
darkness are now in balance. This is a time to celebrate blessings of
the year.
Autumn Equinox Honouring the Gifts of Nature Exercise
Plan in advance a simple walk to honour the gifts of nature. Go to a place that has water, lakeside, the ocean, a stream or river. Breathe deeply as you take in all the sights, sounds, smells and feelings of nature as it surrounds you.
Autumn relates to the element of Water with corresponding colours of green and blue. Notice the elements around you – Fire, Earth, Air and Water. Pay attention to the element of Water that surrounds you and how it relates to all your senses. If possible and not dangerous or too cold submerge yourself in the water. If not touch the water with your hand. Feel the movement contained within the water and connect with energy of this element.
Silently ask the element of Water and Spirit to connect with you and aid you with your emotions, feelings and intuition.
At this time be open to any messages that come to you.
Look for gifts of nature connected with Autumn and the element of Water - a pebble from a river, a seashell, the sound of a waterfall, the babbling of a river, the crashing of waves. Let the joys of nature seep into your soul as you stroll along.
On your return home, place representatives of the element of Water upon your altar. These items can be things you have collected on your walk or beautiful things in the colours blue or green you have already in your possession.
As you look upon your altar take a few moments to remember your senses and the element of Water and know that the positive qualities of the element of Water will remain with you to aid your psychic ability, your intuition and your emotions.
