I Knew My Mother Was Injured...

When I was 19 I worked, as most young people fresh out of school do, at a fast food establishment. It was a regular mundane day at work and I was chatting with co-workers. Something prompted me to look quickly at the outside window. Nothing I knew on a conscious level or anything, just like a reaction to something that wasn't there yet. As I started to look away again and resume conversation an ambulance drove by, lights and sirens blaring. I didn't even contemplate the words or thoughts, it just came out of my mouth like second nature when I said, "They are going to get my mother."
The other girls looked at me in a concerned way and offered attempts at comforting words. Truthfully, I didn't need them though, I wasn't in a panic or fit of worry. To reflect back on it, it was really strange. I didn't obsess over the thought and dismissed it myself immediately. I went on about my day at work and forgot about it. Later, once I had made it home, one of my co-workers called to tell me that the ambulance I had seen was going to retrieve my mother. She was in the hospital after having been in a motorcycle accident. (She was severely injured, but made a fast recovery!)
Beyond that I have never really had any other premonitions. (I HAVE however accurately guessed the exact birth date of every baby born to my family and to my really close friends. Weird right?)
My grandfather had the gift of occasional sight and also dowsed for water with 100% accuracy back in the Depression. Maybe I should focus on this a little more...
