City of the Dead

by John
(USA)

A very lucid dream that I once had at the beach.

My friend Allison had died, and did so while I was out of town, and by the time I knew of it she was dead and buried. She was someone that I had been in love with.

In my dream I suddenly came upon her, and we were both very shocked and happy to see one another. I kissed her all over her face and I congratulated her on surviving death. She said little, but accepted what I gave her with grace. There was now nothing to hold me back.

When I stopped she told me to wait, and before I knew it she was gone, but returned soon after with her boyfriend and also a good looking girl, who was to be my date. They were all very dead. We ate at a restaurant, and talked, and then we all saw a movie. Allison whispered in my ear that the other girl wanted me to kiss her, and I wanted to, but I remembered a live person that I loved and I didn't think it was right, so I didn't.

Then we all walked a couple blocks to where the street stopped abruptly at a row of bricked up buildings, which reminded me of photos of the old Berlin Wall. We said goodbye, and they floated over the wall to the other side. I climbed the wall, but when I saw that the other side was much further down than my side, I recoiled. There were streets and buildings there also, the city of the dead.

I suffered no terror from this realistic dream, and I am rather happy to feel that I have friends over there.
