Creating an Altar…
An Altar is used as the main area for storing any tools a Witch needs during a Magical ritual or Spell casting. Representations of the Elements, for example an incense stick to represent the Element of Air, a candle to represent the Element of Fire, a small container holding salt to represent the Element of Earth and a small dish or bowl of water to represent the Element of Water can be placed on an Altar. An ‘Altar’ can be any surface that will hold the tools and ingredients you need for your Spell work. (A small wooden foldaway table is ideal or a shelf in a bedroom). Your Altar can be as simple or elaborate as you wish. You can adorn your Altar with beautiful cloths, statues of deities, flowers, seashells, crystals and candles or leave it plain and simple. Look after your Altar, keep it clean and ensure only things of beauty are placed upon it. Your Altar will help you focus your awareness and strengthen your spiritual connections. You can create an outdoor temporary Altar if you come across a beautiful tree or rock when out walking in a natural environment. The natural affinity that rocks and trees have with the energy of Mother Earth makes them the ideal focus for your meditations and affirmations. If you are lucky enough to have a fairly secluded garden you can create a permanent outdoor natural Altar by using a large flat stone and placing beautiful rocks or crystal around it with flowers placed upon it.
